If you want to purchase a $3000 laptop or a $300 laptop its a massive decision, nobody wants to be stuck with a junk laptop or pay over the odds! To make a good laptop purchase you have to understand your own needs, will you need a specialised laptop for business, art work or gaming? Memory – 4Gb is standard but you could get by on a 2Gb minimum
Hard Disk Space – 100Gb Minimum for plenty of room to store pictures, music and video. External drives can always be added cheaply later.
Processor Speed – Look for dual or quad core. The faster the better, look for something 10-20% slower than the current highest spec it will be at half of the price.
Graphics Card - Separate dedicated graphics cards out perform shared memory cards, making nearly everything faster to do. But if you are only using the laptop for browsing the internet a shared memory card is fine.
